NFPA 70E Standard for Electrical Safety in the WorkplaceThere are some big changes happening in the 2015 Edition of the NFPA 70E Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace, and you can study the new standard in detail as of this week.

The 2015 standard is now available to download on the NFPA website. The printed book is available to order but won’t be shipped until October, 10.

Some of the major changes for the 2015 version of the NFPA standard are the following:

  • The phrase “hazard analysis” has been replaced with “risk assessment” to enhance awareness.
  • The elimination of Hazard Risk Category 0 to only show requirements where arc-rated clothing is required.
  • References to the phrase Hazard Risk Category (HRC) have been removed in favor of the term Arc Flash PPE Category.
  • A substantial revision of the PPE table with the goal of simplifying the selection process for the correct personal protective equipment.
  • Removal of the Prohibited Approach Boundary.

These are just a sample of the many changes featured in the 2015 Edition of NFPA 70E. It’s an extremely important standard, and one that helps to protect workers from decidedly dangerous electrical hazards. Download it today, read it and learn it. It’s too important not to.

National SAfety Apparel LogoNational Safety Apparel has been in the business of protective clothing for a long time, nearly 80 years as a matter of fact. Those eight decades have helped NSA hone its skills when it comes to creating high-quality workwear that is both comfortable and safe.

The latest from NSA are Dual Hazard Contractor Coveralls, which offer protection from both arc flash and flash fire. The Coveralls are compliant with NFPA 70E-2012 and certified to NFPA 2112-2012. They have an ATPV of 8.6 cal/cm2, which meets Hazard Risk Category 2. All of this means that they are ideal for use by utility workers, construction workers, in the oil and gas industry, or anywhere else where flash fires and arc protection are a concern.

Navy Blue CoverallsContractor Coveralls Features:

  • Made from a 7-oz twill blend of cotton (88%) and high-tenacity nylon (12%)
  • Available in either zipper or snap front style
  • Reinforced front and back pockets and side pass-through pockets
  • Action back allows for a full range of motion
  • Large leg openings fit over work boots
  • Flame-resistant hook-and-loop wrist closures
  • Made in the U.S.A.

Finding quality workwear is a concern for those whose safety depends on it. NSA has been in the business for a mighty long time, and has built a solid reputation in the process.
