Danger in the Woodlands
One of the worst, if not the worst, wildfire seasons is predicted for California this summer. And areas in southern California have already experienced smokey outbreaks early this summer. That’s why it is especially important for wildland firefighters and emergency responders to be prepared and well equipped. Safety and effective firefighting both depend upon it. Several brands do their best to make sure that they supply reliable PPE and other safety equipment to keep some of the bravest men and women in the world safe in the toughest working conditions imaginable.

CrewBoss is an industry leader that makes extremely rugged flame-resistant apparel and plenty of other equipment essential during outdoor applications, including brush pants, brush jackets, backpacks and other first responder gear.
Seattle-based TrueNorth wildland gear has a portfolio of products that includes an array of packs, radio harnesses, hose packs and hydration packs. The company also has a wide range of DragonWear flame-resistant outerwear.
Mercedes Textiles Limited has been creating outstanding firefighting tools for more than 35 years. The sizable Mercedes Textiles portfolio includes a variety of hoses, pumps and fire line accessories. And, oh yeah, the Canadian company holds an impressive 60+ patents. Clearly, the folks at Mercedes Textiles know what they’re doing.
Streamlight provides ample and reliable lighting for any emergency scene. The Portable Scene Lamp provides 3,600 lumens to any area and has a 72″ telescoping pole and is ideal for emergency response situations.
Heat Stress relief is a major concern on the wildfire front lines. Shax Portable Work Shelters from Ergodyne provide shaded comfort in any wildland scenario. The perfect place for first responders to rest and recoup.
All of these manufacturers do something extremely well. And each one has an important single goal in mind–keeping workers safe and helping to ensure that they come home after a tough day at “the office.” We’re thankful for some of the bravest people on the planet, and we’re thankful for those that supply them with safety equipment.
